8 Essential Tips to Enhance your Weight Loss Journey
1. Beware of Temporary Escapes
Build a disdain for temporary destructive escapes. That temporary escape lasts for a very short time, rarely ever solves the problem and
the guilt and shame follows right behind it. That typically leads to another cycle of seeking that
temporary escape again.
Find those positive escapes that enhance your
journey instead of sabotaging it.
2. Discipline over Motivation and Inspiration
Motivation and Inspiration comes and goes like the weather. Start to show up on the days that you don’t feel “motivated” and this will build discipline.
That discipline will trump motivation and
inspiration all day long.
3. Focus on Chapter 2, not Chapter 20
Fixating on how far it is to the “finish line” makes the journey seem impossible at times.
Focus in on each chapter, grow and learn from mistakes made and this will prepare you for the following chapters ahead.
Fixate on the finish line and more often than not you will digress instead of progress.
4. Eliminate Trigger Foods
Identify and remove those trigger foods that you know lead you to spiral. Finding healthier substitutes that satisfy those cravings is also beneficial. However, if having that ‘s nickers’ is the reason you adhere to the rest of your nutrition, then work that into your plan.
You know your self control better than anyone else, so be real with yourself and know your limits.
5. Build your Support System
Weight Loss is not just a self-centered journey.
You don’t have to face all the challenges and obstacles on your own. Finding those who can identify with where you
are, who can hold you accountable and keep you transparent will be invaluable to the success of your Journey.
6. Find your Deeper ‘Why’
This journey has to be deeper than a scale number or beach body. Much deeper than getting the approval of others, feeling like you “fit in” or fueled by proving others wrong.
All of these surface level reasons may be a spark to get you going but through the process, transitioning to finding ‘why’ you want to be healthy and make long term changes will serve you well.
7. Stop wanting Quick Results
Extreme exercise & sacrifices. High calorie deficits, Fasting, Juicing & Fad Diets may all seem like fast solutions but this is why 93% of individuals regain all the weight back after weight loss.
Focus on sustainable changes and remember – the longer you take to lose the weight, the longer you have to break past habits and build new ones.
Take the shortcuts and quick fixes and you will have no idea how you lost the weight nor be able to maintain it.
8. Learn to Fail Forward
Take two steps forward, fall down one. Get right back up and you’re still a step ahead.
Focus on progression.not perfection.
A couple of bad days, weeks or months was not the reason that you gained all the weight and a good days, weeks or months will not be the reason you lose it all.
This has been years of compounded poor choices and will take just as long to break free.
