Jessie, twenty years old, 189 lbs, approached me with extreme vulnerability in her quest to break bulimia.
For many years she had struggled with this disorder and needed something much deeper than a ‘cookie cutter diet plan’ with false promises of ’24 hr support’. Jessie lost 33 lbs in our journey together.
She knew that her success relied on understanding and digging deep into underlying emotional triggers.
Social Anxiety & Emotional Triggers
After repeated rehab and counseling sessions, bulimia continued to destroy her life and confidence.
At a young age, she was desperate in her search for healing but didn’t know how to find it.
The Solution
- Bingeing and purging are interconnected; but need to be addressed separately. As we addressed the self sabotaging thoughts after a binge cycle, we realized that this resulted in less purging.
Facing the binge cycle, she needed to get right back up after a hard day/night not allowing guilt and shame to set in.
This turned to less bingeing and in turn led to less purging.
- Being a student meal structures to keep her on track was imperative.
We created her nutrition plan for meals that took minimal prep and were easy on the go.
- Jessie had social anxiety in eating out and making healthy choice.
Hands on guidance—ahead of time—helped her enjoy restaurants and learn how to win with meals out.
