· Binge Eating Disorder
Roy approached me at 243 lbs and had very little hope of breaking his Binge Eating Disorder. He had tried countless times but couldn’t seem to stop the cycle that was taking him down a road of depression and a tormenting state of mind.
I am happy to say that Roy no longer has B.E.D and he is on his way to the best shape of his life!
Escape Into Binge Eating
oy at the age of 13 had his first binge. That binge stuck with him and followed him all the way to 20, leaving him at 243lbs. There was an emotional soothing that came from the food. However, the destruction that followed with his state of mind was a revolving door cycle.
He couldn’t get out of this cycle which lead him to binge again to ‘escape’.
The Solution
- Binge Eating Disorder
When it comes to B.E.D it has to be attacked from two different aspects: Emotionally and Physically through a structure that is not too restrictive. Patience and understanding with teamwork were crucial to break this cycle.
- Breaking the Cycle
Getting Roy to identify the difference between his hunger levels and his emotional hunger was a process that we worked on. It took intense communication on days that he would end up feeling the need to ‘binge’ and also the hours following a ‘binge’.
- Over-eating Under-Eating cycle
What tends to happen as a form or punishment after a binge—because of shame—it turns into a day or even multiple days of under-eating. This typically then turns into another binge followed by another cycle of under-eating.
With full transparency, Roy learned to get right back on plan when he had a binge, and through this process, we successfully cured her B.E.D!
