I met with Dan and Jorge and we have a deep, revelatory conversation about food and drug addictions. I hope this talk will bring some inspiration to those who are struggling in the depths of their addictions.

Comparing Food and Drug Addictions

With drug addiction, typically, you lose everything. Your job. Family. Friends. Financial stability. On the other hand, food addiction can stay in the background of your lifestyle and you are not even aware how it slowly consuming the different aspect of your health and life.

Food Addictions - Causes and Reasons

Food is an essential factor to survival. However, it can transform into an addiction when it becomes a crutch to emotional outlet or habit. In most cases, life trauma and/or circumstances – be it an unhappy home or busy lifestyle, food begins to adversely affect health and mental well being as a result of the unhealthy relationship with food.

Bringing Change with Love and Purpose

“I promise not to be a monster anymore”, vowed Jorge at the birth of his daughter. Dan found his Purpose through his wife and daughters whose lives were directly impacted by his addictions.

Understanding your 'WHY'

Find your deeper why. Why you continue to spiral. Why you continue to do what you so desperately want to stop doing. Why you want to be healthy and shatter past habits.

Transparency and Support System

Utilize support system to close the gaps when you do spiral. It may be your current patter to let one hour of poor choice turn to a couple of days, even weeks. Focus on breaking the amount of time it takes you to get back up. I find that releasing this to those in your corner of accountability makes a massive difference instead of staying in the dark by yourself too long.
